Students will attend Four (4) virtual concerts and write a 250-word review of each performance. The concerts will be selected from a list of links that I have provided. The list will be broken down into categories that correspond with our course units. Students may only choose one performance from each category.
Instructions:
1. Choose four virtual performances from the list provided. There are five categories, but you only need to select a total of four performance. However, you may only choose one from each category. In other words, you may not choose to write about 3 rock concerts and one country.
2. Watch the full performance of the first video selected. Take note of your reactions to the music, atmosphere, performance, audience reaction, etc. You may also make note of some of the songs performed. Was the performance good, or not so great? Did you enjoy it? Would you choose to attend a similar concert in person?
3. After watching the performance, write a short review of the performance. Each review should be at least 250 words, and should be written as a paragraph (not bullet points). Please proofread your work to limit grammatical errors. Basic grammatical errors will lower your score.
4. Repeat the process until you have written a total of 4 reviews. You may choose to write the reviews over several days, but please post them all at once as a single text submission. Please clearly label each review.. Just please make sure to post all four reviews by the deadline in order to receive full credit for this assignment
The review should address these points, but you may also choose to write about other elements as well.
The review will include opinions supported by emotional, symbolic (mimetic), and formal (structural) responses.
Use terminology learned in the course in regards to melody, harmony, rhythm/meter, form, texture, instrumentation, genre, text setting, etc.
Identify key performers, musicians, conductor (if applicable), composers, etc.
Identify song titles
Discuss the atmosphere of the venue, the audience, the performers, etc.
Discuss your opinion of the music performed, as well as the performance itself.
Would you choose to attend a performance like the one in your review, or of the same artist?
Each review should be at least 250 words in length (1 paragraph)
