Response one classmate’s post: An example of upselling that I have seen is in movie theaters. They offer three sizes of popcorn: small, medium, and large. To encourage upselling, the medium popcorn is priced significantly higher than the small, while the large is priced only slightly more than the medium—usually around 50 cents extra. This pricing tactic subtly nudges customers towards the larger size by creating the perception of added value, enticing them to get for what appears to be a better deal.
This was also done as a social expierement at one movie theater, and the results worked. I have linked that video below for anyone who is curious.
