Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, you are not required to attend a live concert event. Instead, go to YouTube, www.youtube.com (Links to an external site.) and find and view a music event/performance that occurred in front of a live audience and took place recently, preferably within the last 5 years. Watch at least one hour of the event and complete the report per the concert report guidelines. You must submit and upload the report as a Word or PDF file. Be sure to put your name on the report. You must provide the YouTube link on your report – no credit will be given if the link is missing.
The type of musical event you view can fall under a broad range of categories, i.e. pop/rock, Western classical music (for example, music by Beethoven, Mozart, or Bach), broadway musical, jazz, or traditional/folk world music, etc… The event, however, must be in a public setting and feature what are considered “professional” performers, for example, professional soloist or orchestra if Western classical music, well-known pop/rock performers or groups such as Taylor Swift or Coldplay, performers of traditional world music such as Ravi or Anoushka Shankar for Indian classical music, etc…Non-professional music events such as those played at restaurants, high schools, etc…will not be accepted.
See the Concert report guidelines. On your report, respond to and number the 12 items on the guideline. Item #’s 7 through 12 should be about one paragraph each. Reference specific times in the video as you describe the music. For example, if describing the music elements: “At 32:03 in the video, the music displayed a predominant __________ texture with the way the __________ (instruments) were interweaving the musical notes, while the dynamics were __________” and so forth.
