First, identify a for-profit company or organization.
Second, describe the role(s) of social media in conducting daily activities of your chosen company/organization.
Third, collect data from your source of social media related to your chose company/organization.
Fourth, select one theory or model we covered in this course and apply them to analyze your data. You may need to process the data first before analyzing it. Make sure you will apply what we have learned in this course to process your data. (Note: Since this is an analytical course, this part weighs 50% of the total grade. Some tools you may use for data processing is histogram and lines to illustrate the trend or bar charts to demonstrate comparison plus any other visual tools to characterize your data. For data analysis, you may choose either a regression or a formal hypothesis test. You may also do a causality analysis.)
Fifth, draw findings from your data analysis. Please pay attention to the limitations of social media data while also explore the advantages, according to what we covered in this course. This last stage of summarizing your findings is the second most important part of this project and will weight 20% of the total grade. Please pay attention to interpreting your coefficients and their t-statistics as well as the R-square if you do a regression. If you choose a hypothesis test, please make sure you set up the null hypothesis correctly, and interpret the test results in statistics termin
ology. If you use other statistics tool, you will also need to explain all your statistics printouts in details to demonstrate your understanding.
Finally, based on your analysis, provide a couple practical recommendations to improve the profitability or communication for your chosen company/organization related to social media usage. Please make sure your recommendations are specific enough to your chosen company/organization.
