The capstone assignment, as its name indicates, is a critical course component because it demonstrates your ability to analyze, synthesize, and utilize critical thinking skills. In addition, successful completion of the capstone must demonstrate your mastery and application of the course learning outcomes. This mandatory assignment must receive a passing grade (60% or better) for you to pass the course.
Project Overview
In consideration of your current career situation (employed or unemployed), you are asked to think through the following practical question as it relates to the capstone for this course: What project could I actively take on, and manage, that would either advance my career or improve the organization where I currently work?
If you are in a career transition, what project could you actively participate in that would advance your career goals? If you are presently employed and have identified a specific area in your organization that needs your expertise or that you would like to see improve, what would it be?
Either question captures a potential real-life scenario that is relevant to a present project situation and can be applied to the learning objectives.
Note: Your capstone project must be approved by me no later than Sunday of Module 1.
Each week, you will participate in discussion forums, and you will also be required to submit written assignments that are designed to assist you in gaining the core outline and building blocks of project management. Upon completion of each weekly capstone assignment, and when combined with the feedback provided by the instructor, you will effectively write your capstone throughout the six-week course. Finally, your capstone will become an important resource to learn, manage, and benefit from as it relates to the overall project you have chosen. Importantly, you are advised to think critically about the project that you will manage with the goal of deriving as much practical benefit as possible. By fully utilizing the skills, resources, and learning outcomes presented in this course, and applying them to relevant, real time, and real-world applications, a beneficial project management experience will result.
Capstone Mechanics
The body of your capstone should be at least 12 pages (excluding title page, table of contents, references pages, and any appendix).
APA formatting is required (double-spaced, 1″ margins, paragraphs indented, pages numbered according to APA rules, and contain a title page, table of contents, and references).
Remember that only that information cited parenthetically in the body of your paper can be listed in your references.
