Broadly, your topic should be about some types of thinking or “discourse(s)” or behavior or “cultural practices” present in China today. If you have any questions on possible topics, please let me know.
If you want to proceed by telling me that you’re planning on looking at a particular source–such as a person to interview, or a contemporary Chinese novel, or a TV series–you can submit that, too. It’s always better, though, to have some idea of what you plan to pay particular attention to before approaching a source. (For example, you might say you’re interested in how your source describes the countryside in contrast to the city). You’re not going to be committed to this idea. This is just a plan. Sometimes we find unexpected ideas in sources that are more interesting that what we originally planned on investigating.
Final paper due, on topic shown researched over the previous several weeks. The length should be 9-10 pages (not including your bibliography).
You are not required to include a title page, but I would like you to make sure there are page numbers.
