Your last assignment. It’s a research paper, and you’ll have two weeks until the deadline. For this paper, you can choose any of these artists or eras, listed below. You will trace the progression of stylistic changes and how they influenced art. In other words, how did this artist or art era change styles as it progressed through the years?
You can choose to study the stylistic progression and influences on the works of one of these artists or art movements:
Georgia O’Keefe’s Art
Pablo Picasso’s Art
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Architecture
Frida Kahlo’s Art
Andy Warhol’s Art
An artist of your choice, approved by your professor before you begin research. The artist must have worked during the Nineteenth- and Twentieth-Century in Europe or the United States.
1. After you choose a topic, begin by researching the artist and his or her eras. How did the artit transition/contribute to each art style?
2. Jot down notes about how this artist’s works of art progressed: how it began and looked; how the art transitioned in style through the years;
3. Seek scholarly sources that address the jottings in your notes.
4. Write a 1,500 word research paper that addresses the following:
Create a title for your paper.
Write an introduction of at least 100 words.
In the body of the paper, discuss:
Who was the artist?  Write a biographical section.
Trace the history of this artists’ art and how it transitioned.
Include an image with a full caption to represent each transition. You must have a least six images with captions in your presentation. A caption includes the title, artists, date, materials, location. Describe each work of art and how it differed from the works the artist created prior to this.
Discuss the reason/influence behind the transitions: describe the characteristics. What was the meaning? Any quotes from an artist about this? How were these transitions received?
What is your opinion about the transition in each style? What did this contribute, positive or negative?
Write about 200 words for each work of art.
Write a conclusion of at least 200 words.
Include endnotes, if needed.
Create a source list with at least five scholarly sources. Use the MLA style for the list. Show evidence of using these sources in the paper. Refer to or briefly quote them. Don’t overuse direct quotes.
5. Because this paper is due the last day of class, there can be no late submissions.
