Your final project will be due the last week of the semester. The project will involve your life experiences and observations of the aging population. You should concentrate on 4 of the body systems that are succeptible to the aging process. These include cardiac, nervous, skeletal, and endocrine systems. See attached paper as an example of what is expected from a past student. ( DIABETES FINAL PAPER)
Guidelines:
1) You will be assigned a body system (ENDOCRINE) and interview an individual, greater then 60 years old, who is exhibiting signs of aging and has a disease within that system. You may interview a family member, friend, visit a nursing home, hospital, etc. Information should include but not limited to: age of individual, age of onset of symptoms, severity of symptoms, risk factors leading to symptoms, family history, treatments, prognosis, social implications, family implications, etc.
2) Each student will write a 8-10 page paper explaining the results and findings. No personal information of the individual should be included in your report and participation must be completely voluntary. By module 7, all the research will be presented and the final paper will be due. The purpose of this project is to not only understand the physiology behind the aging process and disease but to understand the social aspects as well.
