Your final project requires you to demonstrate the skills you learned across all

April 12, 2024

Your final project requires you to demonstrate the skills you learned across all modules in this course. The project uses this 2022 post-season MLB dataset 2022 postseason MLB (1)-1.xlsx Download 2022 postseason MLB (1)-1.xlsx  I made a tips/reminders sheet to help you as you work through the project steps. notes for final project.docx Download notes for final project.docxYou will need to do the following to successfully complete the final project:
1. collect and organize data-mine online data (for the variables highlighted on the variable descriptions sheet) from published websites and input the data into the dataset, transform pitcher$ and team$ into z scores, submit an excel file with all data- 5pts
2. analyze and summarize -once all data has been entered into the dataset- it is cleaned and transformed (need to transform any salary based variable), conduct a descriptive statistic analysis of score,  for any one specific team by making a new file that has data for only one team when they are team 1 and another file for when that team is team 2 (find means, SD, ranges, median and mode). This descriptive analysis allows you to compare the means of game scores across teams, so what do you notice? Is the mean game score different when a team is home vs away? Do a descriptive analysis for all teams on outcome when the team was team 1 and do it for when the team was team 2, to do that- split on team1 and then again on team2. Select mode for statistics. This analysis allows you to see if the team wins more than loses both at home and away. – 2pts
3. build a model- build a logistic regression model in Jasp to predict the outcome of Team 1 and another for Team 2 (obviously leave out the score variable, use zscores if you include payroll and/or pitsal). to get accuracy metrics which are needed for the template report you need to select under statistics the confusion matrix, sensitivity and specificity-2pts
4. explain using visualization- using Tableau, build a scatterplot using T1total$ and score1. Build a dashboard with at least 2 more charts showcasing your findings about either a specific team, a specific variable or combination of variables for all teams, or your logistic regression model-2 pts
5. fill out and submit the report template  BUS 305 final project template-1.docx Download BUS 305 final project template-1.docx using the information from steps 1-4, make sure to do as instructed in the addendum section of the report template-9 pts
