You will write a research paper to discuss a philosophical topic chosen in conjunction with your professor. If you do not have a research idea, your professor will be able to assist you in creating one.
Your research paper will have a body of five (5) pages, double-spaced. The “References” page is not considered as part of the body page count.
Font, size: Times New Roman 12 pt.
You are to follow the MLA 8th edition format and documentation described at the Purdue OWL site.
The References page will contain a minimum of four (4) sources.
Use academic sources that have page numbers and authors. If no author, do not use it. Always provide page numbers in your citations for your readers. A combination of journal articles and books is an ideal mix for a short research paper. All borrowed information must be noted, whether quoted or paraphrased.
Use direct quotations sparingly (no more than 25% of the paper).
All words should be spelled correctly and errors in sentence structure eliminated.
The level of diction should be formal (no slang, contractions, jargon, or technical terms without definition).
The paper should be well-written and scholarly.

PLAGIARISM: You are responsible for constructing a research paper based on your own idea about a topic. Any borrowed material must be scrupulously documented. Plagiarism is a serious offense and will result in an F in the course.
