you will write a four-page paper (double-spaced, 1 inch margins, and 12-point font). It is
important to be a critical consumer of research. Research reports can sometimes be misleading
because authors “cherry pick” the findings to report (“Sub-group analysis”) and certain other
things to get an article accepted. You will find one scholarly article describing a study done by a
clinical or counseling psychologist or a psychologist doing clinically-relevant research, that has
also been reported on in the popular press. You will read both the popular article that describes
the findings from the journal article, AND the actual journal article.
 You will write a paper that critically evaluates this popular report compared to the scholarly
article. Questions might include What did the popular article get right? What did it get wrong?
Was the popular article well-written and clear? Why or why not? Did the popular article convey
the main points of the research article? How would you make the popular article better?
 Turn in this paper, a copy of the popular article, and a copy of the journal article together. Due
date: See “Class Schedule” below. DON’T PROCRASTINATE!
 The term paper should use APA style formatting, which among other things includes:
1. Cover page – A missing title page will result in a 5-point deduction of this assignment grade.
Include paper title, CLASS NAME AND NUMBER, and YOUR NAME
2. Body – 4-5 pages (not including cover and reference pages):
a. At least 3 headings of your choice are required; however, you may include
more headings if you prefer. Less than 3 headings will result in a deduction of
2 points per missing heading.
b. Points will be deducted for papers less than 4 full pages (5 points per full page,
3 points per half page, 2 points per quarter page). Points will also be deducted
for “creative” (NON-APA STYLE) margins, spacing, etc.
c. BE SURE TO PROPERLY CITE PARAPHRASED INFORMATION AND
DIRECT QUOTES in the BODY OF THE PAPER.
3. Separate references page.
4. This paper requires a minimum of 5 references.
5. One reference must be your textbook and one reference must be a peer-
reviewed journal article.
6. The other three references may be books, peer-reviewed journal articles, and/or other
reputable sources.
7. PLEASE SEE THE LIBRARIAN/WRITING SUPPORT RESOURCES BELOW FOR A
FULL UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IS A “REPUTABLE SOURCE”.
8. Please be cautious when using online resources, as many are not reviewed for
accuracy, and are NOT “reputable sources”
9. One site you that you MAY NOT USE as a reference is Wikipedia; use of this
website will result in a deduction of a minimum of 5 points.
10. All books, articles, websites, and other references must be properly listed on the
reference page and cited within the body of your paper. Failure to list a citation on the
reference page or cite a reference within the body of your paper will result in a
deduction of a minimum of 2 points for each oversight.
11. Additionally, generally not citing where needed will result in reduction of a minimum of 5
points and a maximum of 10 depending on the severity of the oversight.
The paper should be in 12-point Times New Roman font, with standard 1-inch margins,
and formatted in formal APA style. Refer to the Publication Manual of the American
Psychological Association. regarding proper formatting for a literature search paper.
 PLEASE READ THIS: YOUR WRITTEN WORK WILL BE GRADED ON WRITING
EFFECTIVENESS. THAT IS, STANDARD LANGUAGE USAGE, GENERAL CLARITY,
READABILITY, LACK OF CONFUSING GRAMMAR/INCORRECT SPELLING/UNCLEAR
SENTENCE STRUCTURE OR LOGIC.
 Term papers are due via the Canvas assignment box as labeled. For every day late, 10
points will be deducted. Papers are considered 1 day late if they are submitted
more than
15 minutes late And finally… I WILL USE GPT ZEROhanwant to do my paper on Stanley Milgram’s study, often referred to as the Milgram Experiment, which is a classic in psychology. This study explored obedience to authority and has been widely discussed in both scholarly and popular media, making it an excellent c
Here are some steps to guide you if you choose to focus on Milgram’s study: i want to do my paper on milgrams study and i used chatgpt to use this format
Find the Original Study: Look for Milgram’s original research article, titled “Behavioral Study of Obedience” published in 1963 in the Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology. This will serve as your scholarly article.
Select a Popular Media Article: Find a recent article from a reputable newspaper, magazine, or online platform that discusses Milgram’s experiment. This will help you analyze how the study is presented to the general public versus the academic community.
Critical Analysis:
Compare how the results and implications of Milgram’s experiment are presented in both the scholarly article and the popular media article.
Evaluate the accuracy of the popular media report: Does it correctly represent the methods, results, and ethical considerations of Milgram’s study?
Discuss whether the media report simplifies complex issues, omits important information, or sensationalizes the findings to attract a broader audience.
Writing the Paper:
Introduction: Introduce Milgram’s study, its historical context, and its relevance today.
Main Body: Use at least three sections to critically analyze the portrayal of the study in the popular media compared to the scholarly article.
Conclusion: Summarize your findings and suggest ways to improve public understanding of psychological research based on your analysis.
References: Ensure you include references from both the original study and the popular article, along with other academic sources that discuss the experiment’s impact and ethical considerations.
i need five sources, and i need you to attach the orginal source and popular source seperately please as i need to turn those in seperately.
one of the sources needs to be the book which is Pomerantz, A. (2023). Clinical Psychology: Science, Practice and Culture (6th Ed).
Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage. ISBN-13: 978-1071851951; ISBN-10: 1071851950
