You will write a 5-7 page report (booklet format) on a topic related to or derived from your prospective profession. Broadly, you have two options:
OPTION 1
Write a proposal (solicited or unsolicited) that persuades an audience (internal or external) to implement a new or improved service, procedure or policy. You will determine the appropriate audience/contact for your proposal. SEE Chap. 9 “Proposals” for an overview and sample proposals, particularly the long proposal beginning p. 161.
A proposal is very similar to a recommendation report, so you already have a working familiarity with proposal writing and with the persuasive rhetoric needed.
Source Requirements
Minimum of five sources that must include
●at least three articles from professional, scholarly/academic, or trade journals (not websites)
●one interview with a working professional. You may, but are not required to, use the interviewee and/or information referenced in your Correspondence and Short Report portfolios, if relevant.
Additional research /sources may include
●Other primary sources—internal/in-house documents, data, and observations.
●Credible website sources.
Format Requirements
Your report—both options– should be submitted with
●a transmittal document (aka, a cover memo OR a cover letter, depending on your audience’s status as internal or external. Please note that neither the report nor the transmittal document should address me as the audience/recipient) 20 pts.
●a title page
●an abstract or executive summary (concise summary of the report’s thesis, central points)
●a table of contents
●the actual body of the report, organized by headings/subheadings
●at least one visual, which could include an image or a table/chart
●a bibliography (either APA or MLA, depending on what is appropriate within your profession)
●numbered pages
I will be writing to the department chair of computer technology at allegany college of maryland, James House Jr., proposing adding cloud computing degrees or certificate options to the college as it is growing and important in todays world.
