State your name and your student ID on the title page of the report
Briefly introduce the topic and the structure of the paper
Business Information
Briefly describe the business: when they started, what product/ service they provide, what industry they are part of and what their values are.
Value Chain Map
Select the value chain that is appropriate for your chosen business. You will see three options within the downloadable template PPT; service, product or hybrid. Choose one and copy it over to your report. You are required to map 4 (four) unique SDGs, including appropriate target/s, on the value chain of your chosen business.
For illustrative purposes, the SDGs and appropriate target/s that your chosen business has a positive impact on, you will map them above the value chain, corresponding with the relevant stage of the value chain. For the SDGs and your chosen target/s that your chosen business has a negative impact on, you will map them below the value chain, corresponding with the relevant stage of the value chain. For each SDG mapped, you need to add a brief justification of your mapping. These will be expanded on in your report.
Note: You can map multiple SDGs at the same place in the value chain and an SDG with your chosen target/s may contribute both positively and negatively by your chosen organisation. If you map an SDG both positively and negatively, that still constitutes one (1) SDG.
Note: For the size of this task, you cannot map more than four (4) SDGs. Your assessor will only grade four (4).
Justification and Analysis of SDG Mapping
In your justification section, you need to outline why you have mapped each SDG in their location on the value chain. You need to outline why the company is impacting that SDG (positively or negatively and offer details of how), as well as explaining why that impact is occurring at that specific stage of the value chain. Use quality research to support your justification. You can use industry wide information to support you. Make sure you include the SDG targets in your analysis to ensure a robust and accurate justification.
Recommendations
Offer recommendations on how the business can improve. You need to make suggestions on how they can improve the good things they are already doing to increase their positive impact on the SDGs, and make suggestions on how they can resolve any issues they have in their value chain, reducing their negative impact on the SDGs. Make sure your recommendations are detailed, actionable and supported by research.
