Scenario
There is a argument that can be advanced that the Government’s stated owned enterprises places significant burden on the government’s fiscal position. The state owned enterprises, i.e. Bahamas Power and Light (BPL), Water and Sewerage, Bahamasair, etc. do have a measurable impact on the national debt by way of the contingent liabilities.
As the newly appointed Chief Economic Advisor to the Minister of Finance and Planning, you are asked to conduct the necessary research and provide the response to the following questions:
