April 11, 2024

You are required to write a 23-25 page research paper on the topic proposed by you and approved by the economics faculty. (I originally chose the impact of AI on the healthcare industry, and the healthcare sector of the economy. If you could do that topic that would be great. But the choice is yours, don’t worry about the “approved by faculty” part) The paper should progress across the semester and support your development toward the economics major learning goals. In general you will be posing a question, developing relevant and important ‘sub-questions,’ and conducting a thorough review of the relevant and available economics literature to answer your question, thus demonstrating your ability to use existing research to draw conclusions to important questions. You are not required or expected to generate new theories or ideas for this undergraduate work.  However, your paper should conclude with a section providing a recommendation to stakeholders or those whose decision making might benefit from your findings. This could include recommendations to policymakers, lawmakers, advocates, CEOs, etc. It is up to you to target a reasonable audience to whom you can provide guidance or actionable advice from your findings.
Required format is double-spaced, 12 point font, minimum 23 pages maximum, 25 pages (excluding title page and references).  APA format is required
