group in the US of interest to you. Conduct a literature review on this
group and identify mental health or social problems/ challenges faced by
this group. State your reason for choosing this group.
Then, choose a client,
family, or from this group with clinical presentation(s) or concern(s) of
interest to you. Provide a clinically relevant description of the
client/family and their reasons for engaging with the agency. State their
expectations. Give a brief overview of your agency’s practice.
Conduct a diagnostic
assessment, and clearly state client’s or family’s primary
concerns/presenting problems in terms of frequency, intensity and duration.
State your treatment goals
(SMART goals)
Conduct a complete
biopsychosocial assessment and develop a clinical formulation. Identify core
cultural elements or belief system may contributing or maintaining the
presenting problem or concerns.
With knowledge gain
from your assessment:
Identify any of the
treatment models discussed in class that you will use to intervene in the
client’s presenting problems (do not use cognitive behavior therapy).
Describe this model of intervention, theoretical underpinning, and why
you believe it could be an effective intervention.
Describe steps you will
take to ensure your intervention is culturally sensitive and effective in
resolving the client’s or family’s concerns or presenting problems.
Describe how you will
evaluate the outcome of your intervention.
Discuss how you think
the client or family will react to termination.
Describe how you will
react to the termination of services.
