Writing Assignment 3: Project: Cross-cultural communication and action:
Write a 2-3 page cross-cultural project proposal in your field or major.
3 parts: 1) Topic, 2) Progress report, and 3) Final Edited Draft posted on the Discussion Board for student comments.
Not Canadian or Chinese, or American cultures
Culture Choice: African
Choose a culture from your textbook that is not your own culture and that you did not cover in Writing Assignment 2. Write a short proposal to work in that culture (in your major course of study) in response to some needs that culture might have in the modern world. In your proposal, you must address how you would approach and give examples of differences in knowledge and beliefs that the culture might have compared to your own culture and how you would deal with them. There are no formatting rules other than your proposal, which should be no less than 2 full pages of text and not more than 4 pages. You may be creative and include visuals, but they do not count as text. The citations and references page can be done in MLA style, but there are no requirements for the number of references you use. Your final draft will be submitted to the discussion board for public viewing. You will be asked to submit a topic in lesson 12, a progress report in lesson 13, and your final draft in lesson 14.
The culture I want to work with is Africa or an African culture. I want to do something with healthcare as my goal is to become a nurse eventually. My project would be something along the lines of trying to incorporate a better healthcare system for the individuals in these countries. In America, we tend to be known for having a sound healthcare system. However, countries like Africa don’t necessarily have “good” healthcare systems because they lack the resources and funds to provide the proper healthcare.
