Write your own example of a case in business where values and/or responsibilities come into conflict.
Requirements:
1) Your example should take place within business (ie. not within a nonprofit or other kind of organization).
2) You should provide a link or works cited entry for any sources you used.
3) The conflict of value or responsibility you discuss should be one of the following kinds:
Conflicts of interest for gatekeeper professions between employer interests and responsibility to the public
Cases where corporate culture or practices are at odds with or contradicted by the corporation’s stated values or mission statement
Cases where the ethical obligation for whistle-blowing overrides responsibilities to protect the interest of oneself and one’s employer
Cases where loyalty to self and family come into conflict with loyalty to one’s employer
Cases where dishonesty may be required to maintain trust
Use the following steps to complete the post, and please number them.
Step 1: State which kind of conflict from the list above you are providing an example of
Step 2: In 1-2 paragraphs, explain the example of the conflict as clearly as you can. Be sure to explain who was involved as well as why and how the conflict occurred. Do NOT give your own opinion about the outcome of this conflict or make suggestions about what should have happened.
Step 3: Briefly answer these questions in one paragraph: Do you think this conflict was handled ethically or unethically? What are your reasons for this opinion?
