Write two short essays. These essays will cover major issues, themes, theories, and topics covered throughout the second half of this course. Below are three essay questions. two of these will appear on your exam, and you must answer one of them. Still write both essays. Therefore, you should study two of the three to ensure you are prepared for at least one question that appears on the exam. each respose should be 1-2 pages in length. Be sure to constuct an argument in your response.
1) Comapare and contrast the journey of heros and heroines in Classical mythology. Discussing the role that gender plays in the plots, themes, and outcomes of these myths. Are the heros’ and heroines’ journey’s exclusivly different, or can they be considered one and the same. Would you consider greek and roman Mythology as biased towards one gender when regarding the stories of heroes and heroines? Why or why not? is this perception consistent throughout all of the myths we’ve explored up to this point? provide four specific exampled to support your claim (2 male and 2 female), and make sure one of the four comes from Ovid.
2) Is Odysseus a virtuous hero in every sense of the wor? Why or why nto? Does he adhere to the expected standards we’ve set for heros? In what ways does he or does he not? Be sure to survey his character in the Illiad. Odyssey, and other Greek myths that present his actions as directly affecting the outcome of the story. you may also wish to contrast him with heros from aother myths. provide three to five specific examples to support your claims, and make sure one of the three comes from the Illiad, You may also wish to reference Ovid or Virgil to even further support your argument. (This will take your argument to the ndxt level and impress your reader)
3) Many heros and heroines we’ve examined in this class have stories that
end tragically. Does the tragic ending to their mythological or dramatic
cycles strip these individuals or their titles as “hero” or “heroine”? Why or why not?
For this response be sure to refrence four specific examples to support your
claims. (2 male and 2 female) ,and make sure one of the four comes from Ovid.
This is not an all or nothing response either. You may argue that some tragic
endings do wipe the hero/heroine status from some individuals where it does
not in other myths. If this is your approach,  set up your argument to contrast
situations. In other words, is there a pattern that causes some tragic endings to
strip individuals of their heroic status where others don’t suffer this fate?
