Write an argumentative paper that clearly proves the thesis. The word limit is 1700 words.
Using the text A Gesture Life by Chang-Rae Lee, I am specifically trying to prove the following thesis:
In A Gesture Life by Chang-Rae Lee, the narrator, a World War II veteran, attempts to suppress his traumatic war flashbacks and assimilate to suburban life in America in order to move past this time in his life. I argue the incomplete processing of his suffering leads to the self-erasure of his own identity and causes him to project his trauma onto those close to him. When trauma has not been resolved, it is bound to proliferate in some form again, regardless of how hard one tries to ignore their past and adapt to their current environment.
They are very conscious about being concise and using the correct word choice. I would like to make sure I clearly support my thesis with evidence and express with thorough analysis why my argument is correct. So every claim I make is supported by textual evidence. They like close word choice analysis of quotes too.
I also need to cut down the essay to the word limit (I’m ~300 words over). Help cutting down the length of quotes would also be good.
In addition, I would like to make sure the structure of my essay is clear. Please let alter the essay if there’s a better way to structure it to prove my thesis.
I also would like help focusing on my conclusion and intro specifically. Please add any ideas you may have.
I have attached another article, Racial Melancholia, that may be interesting to include in the conclusion or body of my essay to support my argument as well. Please incorporate if it betters the essay.
I have included additional quotes from A Gesture Life in another document if they may be useful to include. Please feel free to take as much writing liberty as you would like to make the paper stronger, including adding or deleting whole sections of the paper. Anything that improves the argument of the thesis is great.
