Summarize the information in the article/videos. Write a reflection related to the eradication of disabilities. Please steer your paper away from a debate on abortion – rather focus your thoughts on disabilities and society. Your grade does NOT depend on your stance just be sure to back up your opinions with your reasons.

Part 2: Awareness and Challenges

Do a little research and find 5 challenges of traveling with a disability. Explain the challenges and propose a solution for each. You will need to cite where you found the challenges (and solutions if applicable). You do not need a reference page, just provide the link after your explanation of the challenge and solution. Please make sure you provide some context. For example, the article mentions the challenge of damaged wheelchairs. Rather than just list “damage to wheelchairs” as a challenge, give some context that lets the reader know how/why this is a challenge. See the example below for how I would suggest explaining a challenge for full credit.
Challenge 1: Damage to wheelchairs: According to John Morris (2019), airlines damaged more than 2,000 wheelchairs and scooters in the first quarter of 2019. I was shocked by this number! This is an issue not only because of the expense of repair but also because people with disabilities who use these devices then don’t have access to them or have to use a substitute while repairs are being made. This can lead to lost time to spend on vacation, lost wages at work, etc.
Solution 1: Airlines are now required to report the number of wheelchairs and mobility scooters enplaned and mishandled each month which should help make them more aware of the issue. I would also recommend training for employees. Many don’t know how to fold or break a wheelchair down and they don’t think about the issues they cause for people with disabilities who then don’t have a way of transportation.
