Write a Project Need Statement explaining the need of the creation of an undergraduate Introduction to Osteopathic medicine pre-medical course.

Christopher R. Teeple

Topic: Introduction to Osteopathic Principles for Pre-Medical Students
My thesis topic is on implementing an undergraduate introduction to osteopathic principles course. My thesis will be a curriculum development project. This course will help pre-medical students obtain a better understanding of the osteopathic profession and better decide whether the allopathic or osteopathic route is best for them. When I applied to medical school, I applied to both and while I had an idea of what was special about osteopathy, I was shocked to discover how much more there was to it than what can be found online. This course can strengthen pre-medical student’s applications to medical school by demonstrating an interest early on.
1. Write a Project Need Statement explaining the need of the creation of an undergraduate Introduction to Osteopathic medicine pre-medical course. This should be in paragraph form and at least 1.5 pages single spaced to describe the need for the topic. You must review medical education literature on your topic and cite at least six sources from peer-reviewed journals that underscore the need for the Thesis topic. Add the references for these citations at the end of your Project Need Statement in APA format. For this Project Need Statement, you can make a prediction that you will obtain the anticipated results from your Needs Assessment Survey to support the need for your topic.
2. Create a Needs Assessment Survey. The survey should have a minimum of 12 questions that measure the target audiences’ perceptions about the need for your topic.
3. Write a Project Rationale Statement for your educational development topic of proposing an undergraduate level osteopathic medicine curriculum for premedical students. This should be in paragraph form and at least 1.5 pages single spaced to describe the rationale for your project (i.e., how your project can address the identified need or gap or problem). It should also include at least six published articles from the literature supporting your Project Rationale Statements and include at the end of your Project Rationale Statement in APA format. Combine all three assignments into one Word document with your name and title/topic of your Thesis on the front page (a running head and page numbers on each page is NOT required).
