write a poem (1 page) that connects to the reading “Know your enemy” by Matt Gallagher which will be provided in the attached files. This will be a creative project for your responses to that text and include a 1 page artist’s statement (, 12 point, MLA format, single-spaced) based upon the assigned text and the poem that was created. In your projects, I would like you to critically engage with the themes and subject matter of the class, incorporating the readings as inspiration, imitation, or as lenses by which to examine the topic of your choice.
It must be accompanied by a one page artist’s statement. I’ll be grading these works based on their:
Conversation with the course readings
A substantive evocation and/or response of/to the themes of the course readings
An understanding of how authors/artists employ techniques intentionally to affect the audience
A rigorous effort to evoke the source text
A substantial time and effort investment
Written work must:
Demonstrate an understanding of literary technique
Be at least three pages in length, or no fewer than three poems
Follow the aforementioned guidelines for typed work.
The artist’s statement will be typed in 12 point, Times New Roman or Arial, single-spaced with one-inch margins, and submitted as a hard copy. Please include page numbers, a title, your name, and a works cited page (MLA 8).
