This is a discussion post. I am to write a post and reply to two other peers. I have upload my paper on nursing philosophy for a reference to (1)discussion post question and replies will be 2 & 3.

Write a brief summary of how your personal nursing philosophy relates to one of these concepts: managing personal change, decision making, time management, setting priorities, or setting professional boundaries. Any knowledge and skills you have included in your nursing practice as a result of this course?

I believe my practice reflects Kristen Swanson’s theory of Caring. According to Masters (2020), “Swanson (1993) posits that caring for a person’s biopsychosocial and spiritual well-being is a fundamental and universal component of good nursing care” (80). Caring for our patients opens us to go above and beyond and at times crossing professional boundaries. We have to remember professional boundaries protect us in all aspects. We have to set the boundaries of nurse and patient without being too involved but at the same time without being too detached. When we try to detach we tend to shut off emotions of compassion and this affects the patient by portraying we do not care. A healthy balance should be achieved. I have become aware of the different theories and how they can be implemented. Moreover, learning and becoming aware of things that can change and improve in my department to not only be a better nurse but a better department overall. I really enjoyed this class and it was nothing as I expected.
