Wow, but the land here in southeastern Florida is flat! You want height, take an elevator in a high-rise building, or get permission to drive up truck roads to the top of a sanitary land fill!
So, you’re driving along a north-south interstate going to visit friends three hours away to the north, and it’s not exciting driving. No Sirius XM in the car, standard AM-FM signals noisy, so you just keep your eyes on the road. Only about 45 minutes left to go until you exit at Exit 15.
You haven’t been here for almost a year, and it’s good to see old friends. Traffic steady but moving without problems.
All at once you look out to the right and there’s a sign, “Exit 15 1 mile”. You get a bit freaky, and say to yourself “I don’t remember passing exits 13 or 14!!! Where was I”?? No cell phone use, no distractions –what just happened. You kept properly in your lane, accelerated and slowed when necessary, so where were YOU???
Based upon what you’ve learned from this chapter, how would you explain your “absence”?
