· Case Analysis Report: Read and write your article on, Boldly Go: Character Drives Leadership at Providence Healthcare. Déjà vu? Yes, this is the same case study assigned for Dr. Gupta’s class. You must be able to read a report and perceive it through a different lens. For this week’s submission, focus your comments on the communication aspects of this case. You have two to four pages to devote to the communication issues facing Providence, possible solutions, recommended solutions (be specific), and expected outcomes. A short submission requires clarity, conciseness, and focus. This paper should have no resemblance to your submission to Dr. Gupta. This is an assignment that focuses solely on the communication aspects of your reading assignment. Your deadline is 11:55 p.m., Monday, September 20. Please submit as a Word document or your paper will be returned with points deducted.
As stated in your course syllabus, your case analysis report should use APA page format (e.g. one-inch margins, 12-point type, and Times New Roman font). Please include double spacing between lines, a title page, and a page number at the bottom. The report must be a minimum of two pages in length (content does not include title page or reference page) and should include: problems/issues facing the organization, possible solutions, a recommended solution, and expected outcomes. Do not repeat the facts provided by the case study. Focus ALL of your writing and analysis attention on the communication aspects of this case in writing your report!
NOTE: Although you are expected to read critically in this course, here is the key to writing this case analysis report. This article is not sequential. The first paragraph is the final event in the timeline of the case study, as well as the starting point for your analysis. Your assignment is how Providence should build upon the improvements that have already taken place. Skimming this article is a fatal mistake that will lead you to erroneous assumptions about the timeline.

Inside-Out: As your first discussion board topic post, you will use search engines to explore the concepts of confirmation bias, cognitive dissonance, and critical thinking. Go beyond definitions and discuss the implications of these concepts on YOUR ability to communicate. The course syllabus refers to Intrapersonal Communication and how knowing oneself is the foundation for effective leadership.
Discussion Board Topic #2, Type Talk
Type Talk: It is likely that you have taken at least one personality test as part of your education or workforce training. Use Business Source Complete (available on your dha dashboard at mydha.vul.edu) to explore various assessment tools (e.g. DISC, Myers-Briggs, Emotional Intelligence, and dozens of others) and discuss their usefulness in measuring personality types and behavior. Again, go beyond mere definitions… dig in. As communicators, why is it important to understand our underlying characteristics and tendencies? Are assessment instruments effective tools in fostering understanding of our relationships? Why is it essential to understand these differences in context of our peers, subordinates, and bosses?
