Listen to the speakers – Kasey Anderson & Ben LaMothe. Locate an article as defined below – two samples and explanations are provided. Copy or attach a link to your comments to support your statements. Apply the article information you selected to each of the speakers’ topics this week. Be specific about each speaker to indicate you listened and understood the speakers. If our text provided support for what the speakers said or disagreed with it, why do you think this occurred? Be sure to respond to the posts of two other students.
EXAMPLES:
Locate an external article from current news sources (within the past two weeks) that relates to what the speakers talked about. Use primary sources for your articles – see the JRN 350 Library Resources and the librarian if you don’t understand what a primary source is. Copy the article and attach it to the discussion board post you make to support your statements.

Here is a sample of another kind of article below. This is from a professional organization for public relations professionals. This should open in a Microsoft Word format. If you have problems opening it, use the chat line directly. I use it to assert that PR practitioners need reliable sources of data on social media that they can explore and use to make decisions on whether social media might be useful to their company or not.

A New York Times article with a reporter’s byline is a primary source of information. A blogger, however, is providing commentary but may not be doing fact checking or follow any of the journalistic rules about balancing a story and attribution. Look for straight “news” stories for this assignment.
The Public Relations Society of America is another good source of information. Students who are not journalism majors may want to locate an article from a professional association for healthcare or business if it deals with the speakers are talking about
