Copy and paste the words below into a Word document. Save the Word doc as “Types of Research.” Answer each question. Leave my writing in bold but write your answers not-bold.
1: Vet Dr. Greger.
Who is he?
Can we trust his opinion and research? Why/Why not?
Does he benefit from you taking his advice? Does he run ads on his website? How much does his app cost?
Cite your sources. None of them should be Dr.Greger’s own website.
Do not plagiarize! If you would like to quote someone, do so properly.
2: Look at his sources cited. List the journals that are peer-reviewed.
Dr. Greger mentions several studies in the video. All are listed on his website https://nutritionfacts.org/video/dark-chocolate-and-artery-function/
that contains the video. Take a look at the sources cited list. Of the 11 studies he reviewed in order to make the video, write down which of the 11 journals cited are peer-reviewed.
Only write down the Journal name, do not write the entire citation.
For example: American Journal of Clinical Nutrition or the British Medical Journal.
Citations for Journals are written: Last name, First name. “Title.” Journal name. Volume (year): pages.
If you are unfamiliar with reading a works cite page, please open up the document in “Course Home” called Citing Examples of Web Sites, Journals and Books.doc.
Can’t tell whether the journal is peer-reviewed? Try googling it. Or, check PubMed. PubMed is a research database that only cites peer-reviewed journals. If you can find the journal on PubMed, rest assured it is a peer-reviewed journal and you can add it to your list.
Question 3: How much cocoa was of benefit: _____ teaspoon(s.) The benefits will be negated if the chocolate also has the ingredients ______ and _______.
