For this week’s activity our main goal is to consider the geography of our food and apply the learning material to assess its sustainability.
What were the ingredients of your most recent breakfast? Do a small amount of research (15 minutes) and tell us where the ingredients most likely came from. How many miles did they travel to reach you? All together, what was the average distance travelled by your food ingredients?
Based on where your food ingredients (corvallis, Oregon students) were grown and this week’s learning material, what kinds of sustainability challenges likely exist with your breakfast? What might be some ways of overcoming this? Reference class material here (e.g. lecture, videos, or readings).
