Please watch this Supplier Analysis and Scorecard video (Links to an external site.) in order to complete this assignment. This is the same video from the Supplier Analysis Part 1 assignment but is useful to watch again. Speed up to 1.25 or 1.5 if necessary. There is a workbook you will need to download (listed below in Supplier Scorecards description and at the end of this assignment description). For your convenience there is also a pdf version of the Materials and Suppliers spreadsheet from the workbook. SUPPLIER SCORECARDS Attached are two spreadsheets or pdf’s. The first spreadsheet to review is the Supplier Ranking spreadsheet in the M01 and M02 – Practice Operations SupplierRanking_Charts workbook downloadyou should have been using. The second spreadsheet is also in the same workbook titled Materials and Suppliers. This is a sheet with a variety of statistics related to materials and suppliers. You can also use this to help you decide which suppliers to use. You can also use a pdf file named Materials and Suppliers Information.pdf because there is no need to manipulate the data in this spreadsheet. Assignment Requirements You should have used, and continue to use, the Supplier Ranking spreadsheet as you order materials from suppliers. Decide on the relative ranking of Price, Quality, and Reliability for each material. Play with those numbers by varying the relative weights. The spreadsheet ranks the suppliers for you based on their statistics and your weights. Now answer the following questions: What weights did you use with respect to Price, Quality, and Reliability for each material? Why? Did you use different weights for each material? Why or why not? How did this affect your supplier choice? Why? What trends, patterns, occurrences, etc. did you notice that affected how you procured materials from suppliers? Did actual supplier performance affect or change how you purchased from suppliers and from which suppliers you ordered materials? What else did you learn about ordering materials and managing suppliers? How do you think you did with respect to ordering materials and managing suppliers? How and why? Second, use the Supplier Ranking spreadsheet and the Materials and Suppliers pdf or spreadsheet together to choose suppliers Important Notes about Quality and Reputation Score: Ordering material that is better than or equal to expected customer quality is important You receive the highest Reputation score for Quality when the difference between material quality is ten (10) points or more than expected customer quality Questions for #2: How does the Materials and Suppliers pdf or spreadsheet affect the way you analyze and choose suppliers as compared to the Supplier Scorecard? How would the above knowledge about how Reputation score is calculated in Practice Operations affect how you order materials? How does supplier reliability affect your choices? How do prices affect your choices? How do discounts and incentives affect your choices? Is it easier to use the two supplier selection tools rather than analyze each and every supplier order? What could be the danger or risk associated with letting the tools make your choices as opposed to comparing potential material orders? 3. Here are three (3) scenarios. For each answer and defend your answer for the following questions: Which tool would you use? Which supplier would you choose? (NOTE: If you order the material the same week you bid on the product (meaning you assume you will win the bid), you will receive the material the next week, assuming you picked a one week delivery / lead time. That is, any time you order material the number of weeks of lead time is: 1 week will have it delivered the next week, 2 weeks would be the week after next and so forth.) You need 1950 pieces of denim. The customer needs the product in 11 weeks. You want to ship the final product at least one week early to get the best Reputation score (this means you ship them when the contract is due in three (3) weeks or more). It will take 5 weeks in production. Therefore you need 8 weeks for production and shipping. This leaves you three (3) weeks (11 minus 8) to receive the material. The bid price for the customer product is $2.00 less per product than our projected bid price from our product profitability plan. There are 3 pieces of denim per product. Based on this criteria, look at your scorecards and choose the supplier or suppliers you would use. Explain. You need 2400 pieces of Silk. The customer needs the product in 16 weeks. You want to ship the final product at least one week early to get the best Reputation score (this means you ship them when the contract is due in three (3) weeks or more). It will take 8 weeks in production. Therefore you need 11 weeks for production and shipping. This leaves you five (5) weeks (16 minus 11) to receive the material. The bid on the customer product is the exact same per product than our projected bid price from our product profitability plan. There are 4 pieces of silk per product. Based on this criteria, look at your scorecards and choose the supplier or suppliers you would use. Explain. You need 1725 pieces of Wool. The customer needs the product in 8 weeks. You want to ship the final product at least one week early to get the best Reputation score (this means you ship them when the contract is due in three (3) weeks or more). It will take 4 weeks in production. Therefore you need 7 weeks for production and shipping. This leaves you one (1) week (8 minus 7) to receive the material. This means in order to obtain the material in time to produce and ship you need to assume you will win the bid and order the material with only one week of lead time. The bid on the customer product is $2.00 more per product than our projected bid price from our product profitability plan. There are 4 pieces of wool per product. Based on this criteria, look at your scorecards and choose the supplier or suppliers you would use. Explain. FILES TO BE USED FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT Attached are two spreadsheets or pdf’s.
