Keep track of your sources for the last question.
Note questions 8-9 you will have to visit the website for your utility company. If you are not sure what utility company you use, use the LADWP site.
1-What was the total annual rainfall in Northridge during the 2013-2014 water year (October 1, 2013-September 30, 2014)? Hint: Google the Northridge – Garland rain station. Make sure to select the Northridge-Garland station from the drop-down menu on the LA Dept. of Public Works site.
2-What is the longest river which flows entirely inside California, and what is its length in miles?
3-Is there a state official under the governor who is in charge of both natural resources and environmental protection? If so, what are this person’s name and title? If not, what are the names and titles of the highest officials who are in charge of natural resources and environmental protection? (Note: In California, there is a secretary of the Environmental Protection Agency and a secretary for Natural Resources; find their names).
4-(a) What is the source of your drinking water (which utility do you pay: LADWP, Los Virgenes Water, etc)? (b) Where does the utility company you indicated in (a) get the water it delivers to your home/dorm/apt.? (can be more than one source) (c) Do you drink bottled water, tap water or filtered water from your tap?
5-Where does your garbage get taken? (name the facility and its location)
6-What is the primary fuel source for electricity that supplies your house or apartment? (What fuel is used to produce most of the electricity supplied to you?)
7-What was the magnitude of the 1994 Northridge Earthquake?
8-List your sources, including site name, page/article name, URL, and date accessed.
