Interview Experiences.
Create a discussion thread in response to the following questions:
What was one of your most memorable interview experiences? What made the experience a positive one? What would you do over, given the chance?
What are some of your best interview tips to share with your classmates?
Have you ever had a chance to interview candidates before? If so, how does the role of the interviewer compare to the role of the interviewee?
After you have posted your thread (at least 200 words), take some time to read through your classmates’ posts, and build on each other’s tips for successful interviews by interacting with at least two other students.
Example of a student interview experience.
1. One of my most memorable interview experiences would have to be my interview at the Boys and Girls Club. The interviewees gave me ample time to respond and reflect on what they were asking me, while also creating a comforting interview environment. They did not make it seem as though I was being interrogated, which is sometimes a common feeling in interviews. They also gave questions that were directly related to the job, which prepared me and gave prior knowledge about the responsibilities I would have if hired.
2. Best Interview Tips
Dress to impress (dress according to the job you are being interviewed for)
ASK QUESTIONS! (it shows you have done your research)
Do not use your phone 5 minutes prior to the interview or during the interview
Do not use profanity or unprofessional vocabulary
Take your time to thoroughly understand what they are asking you
Make sure your body language and facial expressions are congruent to your words
Do your research on the company so you have prior knowledge and understanding
Be punctual and arrive 10 mins early atleast so they are not waiting on you
3. I have unfortunately never had the chance to be the interviewee, but I would imagine it would be equally as stressful being interviewed, because there is still the element of the unknown, and you may have to reject the interviewee which would be hard if they were equally as good but not quite as good as another candidate. The element of decision making as the interviewee would be difficult.
