Now that you have completed your studies of World Literature spanning from the 16th-Century
to the present for this course: with consideration of all of our required course readings, spanning
from the sonnets of William Shakespeare to the motion picture you brought in for discussion,
and everything in between; your previous writings for this course; the supplemental materials we
have looked at in class; terminologies and theoretical approaches we have learned about in class;
and our classroom lectures, discussions, and presentations – what value does the study of World
Literature carry today, and what value is there in keeping the field of World Literature alive as an
academic discipline for future generations of people?
To do this, be sure to: 1) craft a claim that speaks directly to the question provided above; then 2)
support your claim throughout your essay using evidence in the form of quoted text taken
directly from literary pieces examined in your response, while 3) using relevant academic
terminologies and theoretical approaches, as taught throughout the course term, to express and
support your points.
