In the “Looking Ahead” section of the Beginning your Study of World Religions module, you were introduced to some Basic Classification Terms. After reviewing these terms, select one (or a few) that you think best apply to each of the Indian religions we have studied so far: Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism. Be sure to defend your selections. Here are the steps to follow:
Initial Post
– Title your initial thread with some of the terms you have selected as a preview of the content. Titling it “India Discussion” or something similar could result in a deduction (the word “discussion” should not appear in the title anywhere).
– What term or terms best describe Hinduism? Explain your choice(s).
– What term or terms best describe Jainism? Explain your choice(s).
– What term or terms best describe Buddhism? Explain your choice(s).
– This conversation is to be at least 200 words of content followed by at least 2 MLA (Modern Language Association) format research source citations outside of your textbook: MLA Citations.
Responses
– Expand upon the threaded post of another with further thoughtful comments, observations, and/or questions. There is no specific word count here, your replies simply need to meaningfully add something to the conversation with sufficient depth of discussion.
– Maintain your thread regarding those who make prompt and meaningful replies to your post.
– Be sure to subscribe to any posts you make so you are alerted when someone responds to them.
– All of this needs to be done in the context of furthering the conversation regarding religious terms, ideas, and concepts related to the topic.
