1: Find the Strategic Plan (or the Mission/Vision statement) from your institution and/or your department. (a good strategic plan should be readily available to all stakeholders). Spend some time exploring the document(s) and reflecting on how it serves as your institution’s/department’s guiding document. What tangible observations can you make about your institution/department that align with your Strategic Plan? Are there areas of weakness or opportunities for improvement in the Development of the Strategic Plan or the Implementation of it in your daily work?
2: Next, consider if you and/or several of your colleagues have ever reviewed the AARC Mission Statement and Horizon Goals (linked at the end of this prompt for your easy reference). What do you and your colleagues think it says about the future of our profession? How well or not well are we doing as a profession, in embodying the mission and the 6 Horizon Goals. Identify which goals you think the profession has successfully met, and which goals still need some work.
