What role do stereotypes play and how is it related to mass incarceration? Thesis Statement: The War on Drugs has affected Latinos in the U.S significantly and not in a good way at all, but very negatively. To many Latinos in the U.S it has been like the War on Drug has been a war on them.

There were many stereotypes, racial profiling, overresprensetation and mass incarceration all disproportinatelly against the Latino commununity when the War on Drug started. Many view the Latino community differently and treat them as criminals. Outline: Introduction: The War on Drugs has affected Latinos in the significantly and not in a good way at all, but very negatively.

There’s been many stereotypes against the Latino community since most of them are now more decriminalized and more targeted by police. The War on Drugs has resulted in an overrepresentation of the Latinas/os communities and black communities in prosecutions and arrests made in connection to drug offenses all over the compared to white communities.

Racial profiling appears when the police depend on ethnicity, race, origin, or religion to base their suspicion if an individual is involvein in a crime. State and local police officers have systematically targeted Latinos for dragnet tactics implemented as a matter of official strategy by several federal forces about the drug war.

Body 2 The War on Drugs has resulted in an overrepresentation of the Latinas/os communities and black communities in prosecutions and arrests made in connection to drug offenses all over the compared to white communities. The most likely to be ‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍incarcerated Latinos/as and blacks than whites, it’s been shown that the system gives them a more harsh sentence compared to whites so they would do longer sentences.

It showed prejudice and bias against the Latino community and they were more discriminated against because they were the one who were mostly racial profile. Body 3 The War on Drugs had contributed to Mass incarceration of Latinas/os and black which had broken up many families.

The rates of Latinos/as getting incarcerated over drug charges just kept on rising it was more than double. Imprisonment of one the parents created a gap in many families due to the fact that the children depend on both parents. Conclusion: The War on Drugs has affected Latinos in the significantly in a very negative way nothing good came out of it.

Many stereotypes against the Latino/black community made most of them be decriminalized and more targeted by police. Overrepresentation of the Latino/black communities was based on them being seen as criminals due to the high percentage of them getting caught in related drug offenses.
