COURSE PROJECT TEMPLATE
ACCT 2301 | Principles of Accounting I
This document may be used throughout the course project, adapting the tables and information to best fit the assignment each week. However, you may also choose to use your own program or tables (Excel, PowerPoint, or Word document tables). Carefully read the instructions for each part of the project in Blackboard to ensure you have all the elements completed. All submissions must be through Blackboard in a Microsoft Word document.
In order to begin your project, you must create a simple, yet comprehensive business plan. Using the information below, you will create your own company as a basis for the course project you will work on throughout the next 7 weeks.
Let’s get started. First, take a few moments to consider a business that you would like to create (a cleaning business, a coffee shop, an IT company). Next, narrow your focus on this business and consider your audience, your initial product, and how you will address the needs of your audience. Then, focus even more narrowly by selecting that one idea that will generate revenue. The questions below will guide you as you consider your basic business idea. Keep in mind that you will grow and adjust your business throughout the 7 weeks with different accounting principles.
Step 1:
Answer the following questions in complete sentences and paragraph form. This is the basis for your business and course project.
STRATEGY
1. What is your business idea?
My business idea is “Health Wallet.” Health Wallet specializes in giving patients who do not have insurance options and help in paying for necessary surgeries. We also help patients find other options besides surgery such as regenerative health and conservative care options. Our goals is to have resources available so that our clients can always get answers and educate themselves on our options and services.
2. Who is your customer? What need are you meeting?
Our customers are patients who need medical options to help alleviate their pain, solve physical problems through surgery, or are looking for alternative options to improve their conditions. These clients are those that do not have traditional insurance and need better options and support for negotiating and paying their medical bills than using a cash price option. We are meeting the needs of our customers by giving them options and solutions to help them with their pain and medical conditions without having to be worried or stressed out about how they will pay for the bill. Our financial payment and support systems will lay out all options in a clear and easy to understand manner so that each patient/customer can choose the options that is the best fit for their medical and financial needs.
3. What competition are you facing?
Our competition is doctor’s offices and medical loan and credit lenders. Some medical offices, but not all, offer payment plans and patients can also take out loans or credit lines for medical procedures. However, these loans are usually only given to those with good credit and even then the fees and interest rates can be higher than most people would want to pay. These also only cover the cost of visits or procedures but do not focus on overall wellness. Our company will compete by having better rates and payment options while also encouraging patients to be an active participant in their health and wellness by being part of our wellness programs. The majority of doctor’s offices deal with the current ailment and medical need but do not focus on the wellness of the patient or discuss with them the importance of a balanced live with the right health education which includes diet, exercise, and preventative medicine/lifestyle. We want to create a medical company that follows up with patients and encourages the to make the changes in their life that will improve their health and wellbeing as well as stay with them through that journey to ensure that they stay on the right track.
