Culture and Art OverlapArt and culture are deeply intertwined, meaning that photography and culture are also deeply intertwined. Furthermore, photography and other artistic mediums are very intertwined in that they influence each other, and while photography is a type of art, it is also used to photograph art created with other mediums. Phew! Everything really is connected in this culturally artistic world! So, for today’s lab, you will be exploring the many ways that art, including photography, and culture overlap and intersect.
You will start by going online to explore art from a variety of different cultures and/or time periods. You can find a lot with a simple Google search using something like “art from different cultures/time periods,” but the following websites and videos might be helpful places to begin:Web Gallery of Art (an excellent index of artists that can be searched by culture or time period and then explore the art created by each artist)
