What is the difference between explicit and implicit memory?

October 27, 2022
Christopher R. Teeple

For this applied problem, you will be a cognitive psychology inspired tutor. The tutoring organization you work for has asked you to create a week-long plan for a new after-school study group informed by evidence-based practices. Your goal is to create a study schedule for the group, along with a descriiption of any study activities you will use with your students. You will submit a copy of your plan for the study group, along with a justification that explains how your plan uses memory concepts to enhance learning.
Assignment Details
Step 1. Write your justification.

This is the first time you will write an entire justification! Your full justification must be at least 4 paragraphs long, and use the language of cognitive psychology and psychological science. It must include:
an introductory paragraph that summarizes the context for the problem and the relevant concepts you identified from the module’s readings;
at least two body paragraphs which define the two concepts you selected from this module, alongside how you implemented them in your creation and support from peer-reviewed sources;
a final paragraph which summarizes how your creation solves the applied problem and the real-world implications of this module’s concepts, and a short introduction and conclusion paragraph. The introduction summarizes the main problem to be solved and mentions the two concepts used in the justification. The conclusion summarizes why the creation was a good solution to the problem, and how this area of cognitive psychology is relevant to the real-world. Each paragraph defines one concept from the current module relevant to the applied problem, using the language of cognitive psychology. Each paragraph clearly states how the concept was used in the creation, providing an example of how the concept was implemented in the design process. Each paragraph/concept uses a directly-related peer-reviewed article to argue why the creation is a good solution to the applied problem. The peer-reviewed sources are not quoted, but paraphrased. In-text citation and references are in perfect APA style.
