Describe, in detail, three specific internal policies of a health care organization, which affect quality of patient care.
What are the implications on the quality of care based the internal policies described? (How do the policies improve patient care/improve health outcomes? What are the effects of the policies on the overall health care organization’s budget?)
What, if any, external or internal policy should be considered for change/updating and why? How specifically should that policy be changed/updated and what would be the best way to advocate for the change?
External Policy Examples are: Magnet accreditation policies/standards, Joint Commission National Patient Safety goals, The Affordable Care Act policy, Medicare policy, HIPAA policy. These broader external policies or public policies cause the development of internal policies specific to an organization.
