The journal assignment is worth 25 points, one assignment per unit with a total of 75 points for all three units. Each journal assignment will include the following parts:
Read two assigned opposing viewpoints on a controversial food science topic
Answer assigned questions 1-4 as outlined below
Use complete sentences and write in your own words. There are no requirements for length; your responses may be brief and concise as long as your submission sufficiently answers the questions. Double-check your answers to make sure you have addressed all the questions asked within each numbered question. Please number your answers (1-4) to align with the specific request for response below.

“Food is Safer than It Has Ever Been”
“The Food Safety System in America Is Substandard.”
Assigned Questions for all Journal Assignments:
Which title of the assigned readings were you more apt to agree with BEFORE you read the two opposing viewpoints? AFTER reading the two viewpoints did either of their arguments/claims change your opinion, strengthen or weaken your position? How so? If not, why not?
What in your opinion are the strongest AND weakest arguments or claims of EACH viewpoint? Does EACH of the viewpoints present scientific evidence to support their arguments/claims?
Conduct an on-line search of scientific literature in library databases/e-journals to examine the strongest OR weakest arguments/claims of a viewpoint you identified in question number two. Based on your findings, provide one reference citation for a scientific article from a peer reviewed journal that supports OR disproves the science behind ONE of these arguments/claims of the viewpoints (your answer should include a total of 1 citation). Briefly summarize your findings.
Personal Reflection: After considering your research findings from question three, describe the thought process that now brings you to your final opinion in relation to the two opposing viewpoints. Did your research impact your final position? If so how? If not, why not?
