What effect (if any) has the US Governments’ stance on cyber-security had on the privacy rights of its citizens?

September 7, 2021
Christopher R. Teeple

The capstone paper to edit is attached. “Devon March Capstone” Please do not recreate a new paper. Edit and improve this paper. Also, please use a word other than “quagmire” in my paper. I have it there because the last writer didn’t want to remove it. The topic is in the actual “Topic” section of this paper request: “What effect (if any) has the US Governments’ stance on cyber-security had on the privacy rights of its citizens?” (Professor feedback is below)
Please use “CAPSTONEMANUAL” when formatting paper. (The paper for the most part is formatted correctly. I had an issue starting roman numerals on the second page with “i”)
I also attached the rubric.

Instructions
Submit your full draft thesis. A thesis must have a substantial research component, present an original argument using proper academic writing conventions including carefully documented primary and/or secondary sources, and contain the following elements:
Introduction. Identifies your specific research question and sets the general context for the study.
Statement of the problem or general research question and context leading to a clear statement of the specific research question. Background and contextual material justifying why we should study this case or topic. Purpose statement.
Literature Review. Reviews the literature on a specific research question. The literature review focuses on discussing how other researchers have addressed the same of similar research questions. It introduces the study and places in larger context that includes a discussion of why it is important to study this case). It provides current state of our accumulated knowledge as it relates to your specific research question. It should include a short conclusion and transition to the Theoretical Framework section.
Theoretical Framework. The theoretical framework section develops the theories or models to be used in the study and shows how you have developed testable research hypotheses. This section includes a discussion of the gaps in the literature and how your thesis will address those gaps. It will include a justification and explanation of the theory or model that is used in the thesis.
Research Design. Describes how you will test the hypothesis and carry out your analysis. It describes the data you will use to test your hypothesis, how you will operationalize and collect data on your variables, and the analytic methods that you will use, noting potential biases and limitations to your research approach.
Findings/Results/Discussion. This section describes the results of the study.
Reference List. Reference the works that you have cited (direct quotes or paraphrases) in the text. This must be in APA format.
If APUS Institutional Review Board (IRB) is required, evidence of IRB approval should be submitted as a separate document within this assignment folder.

Students will follow the current APA Style as the sole citation and reference style used in written work submitted as part of coursework.
Points will be deducted for the use of Wikipedia or encyclopedic type sources. It is highly advised to utilize books, peer-reviewed journals, articles, archived documents, etc.

PROFESSOR FEEDBACK AFTER ORIGINAL SUBMISSION:
Hi Devon:
Again, I am not sure why you are rushing this project and not taking the full week to ensure a higher quality submission.
The 1st sentence under Overview of the Research Topic – why not spell out 21st-century? It appears a bit awkward in its present form. And it, and the “sentence” that follows, are not proper sentences – correct this. And in the sentence that follows those the word “ubiquitous” is out of place – consider replacing it with a better word.
In the paragraph that follows, you begin with the word President. It should be “The President” or “President Biden”.
There are many issues like this throughout that must be corrected.
On Page 5, why are you using numbers and bullets? Be consistent. Then on the next Page you are using “arrows” – you can’t do this.
Why on Figure 2 does the source appear above the figure instead of below it like it does elsewhere? Same with Figure 3.
Check to verify that you Page numbers are on the correct side of the page.
Why does your Fig. 4 title appear at the bottom of Page 26 and the Figure at the top of Page 27 (and the same problem exists for Fig. 6)? And Why does Figure 4, 5, & 6 sources appear in the Title instead of underneath the figure like they do elsewhere? You must be consistent – fix this issue throughout. This issue appears to exist with all your visual aids – Tables, Figures, etc.
Again, I would consider changing the word “Quagmire” in your title.
Overall, this paper still has far to many issues that detract from its overall quality and presentation. While your narrative is fairly solid, it is confusing at times. I am not sure why these issues have not been addressed, but this paper needs a good investment of time and attention to bring it up to the level of what is expected of a Thesis. I suggest you reread it and then get someone else to do the same. When doing so, look for some of the issues that I have pointed out. These are but a few examples of the larger problems plaguing this paper.
At this stage, these types of issues should not have been present.
I expect the overall quality of this paper to be substantially higher when you submit it in its final form!
Thanks,
Curtis
