The most interesting concept to me from this chapter was the aspect of social media in the marketing research world. As someone with immense interest in how social media platforms work in terms of marketing and being able to figure out the best platform for each business, I found it incredibly beneficial to know about how social media can essentially change the entire way an organization goes about their marketing research process and how they get their data. I definitely plan to use said knowledge about everything from company blogs to social network characteristics to benefit myself long-term within my project considering my project is very much reliant on the idea of “growth” and there may be nothing that grows faster than social media. As someone who works in social media now as an intern for a hockey team and someone who hopes to run the social media for a professional team at some point, this is extremely beneficial and important to me.
