NOTE: You have to be ok with me publishing this for solely my credit. Look at this article for reference of what I’m aiming for in terms of format: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10648-019-09502-3 This is my Master’s Thesis. I need you to come up with a project and conduct a meta-analysis of how effective computer-based learning is. Specifically, I want you to address these topics: 1. Why is computer-based learning important? Why do we have to look into improving it? 2. What are we counting as computer-based learning? (Ie. define the purposes for which things are considered computer-based learning, differentiate that with computer-assisted learning, then specify the scope of programs and studies this paper will take into account) (Find at least 30 different papers) 3. Which computer-based learning methods are there currently?
Which ones are we going to look deeper into? Why are these a representative sample of computer-based learning? 4. How effective are current forms of computer-based education? Are some better than others? If so, by how much (USE Statistics from other papers)? 5. What trends, if any, do we see in the more successful and unsuccessful programs? Would these just be correlations or are they likely to be causations? 6. How can the field of computer-based education be brought further? What can we do to improve student success at all levels? Propose a few experiments (distinct from the ones before) that can test these new methods. BE SPECIFIC 7. Propose and defend a view of how this field will develop in the future
8. References 9. Appendix I want something that goes deep into past analyses and statistics as well. ONLY CITE REPUTABLE PAPERS THAT ARE IN ACADEMIC JOURNALS. I also want a wide variety of computer-based learning methods. Give me something that is interesting as well; I want something that can be published in an academic journal. Also, I need you to create your own graphs and charts (using data from these reputable sources). Follow the general outline of meta-analyses that have been published in good journals. I want something that a general (though academic) audience can understand. For example, a researcher from another field entirely should be able to understand this.
Don’t use fancy words (just use normal English vocabulary) except when it is a technical term. When using these terms or abbreviations, be sure to define them. I want something that is very concise; DO NOT USE WORDS UNLESS THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. My professor has been talking all year about how useless words need to be cut out. Additionally, I want you to tell me if you want to take the research in a different direction. I’m open to you changing the content if you can convince me it’s better. I also need regular updates because my professor checks in every Monday and Thursday.
