Tyler was diagnosed with dyslexia in the second grade and has not received the appropriate help for his learning disability. He is in his first year of middle school where there are 1500 students. There are approximately 35 students in each of his classes. Tyler is teased because he struggles with reading and math. He has missed school for 15 days. Recently he was diagnosed with depression. His only friends are his family. The father financially supports Tyler and the grandmother works full-time as a nurse.
