MFT 615—Case Assignment
The Case Assignment for this course will be a 5–8-page essay
(excluding cover page and references). You should use a minimum of
3-4 sources from the Touro library in your Case Assignment.
Read the following case below and write a 5–8-page essay that
responds to the questions following the case scenario.

Case:
Helen is a 30-year-old Caucasian woman with a 5-year-old daughter.
Her husband brought her to a clinic with a chief complaint of his
wife’s unusual behaviors. Helen has been taking walks in the
neighborhood in her pajamas when she could not sleep. She has
become fearful of her husband and she has begun drinking alcohol.
During the interview in the clinic, Helen reported that she was
pregnant with another man’s child.

Helen also reported that the only substance that she used/abused was
alcohol. Helen does not have a previous history of taking psychiatric
medications. The psychiatric family history was negative for mood
disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance
abuse disorders. During the psychiatric assessment, Helen reported
that she experienced symptoms of increased energy, moodiness
(dysphoria, elation, and irritability), and racing thoughts.
