For this assignment, students are to analyze coverage of an event reported as terrorism, comparing the messaging from official sources with that from various media outlets. Choose a recent terrorist event (within the past five years) and conduct research to report on how the event was reported by media sources as well as official government sources. Your analysis should be objective in terms of your own opinion on the quality or veracity of the reports. The point of your analysis is to compare how the event was reported by the various sources. Were their differences in how the event was reported? Were their differences in the details provided? Would consumers of the reports come away with different understandings of the event? Draw conclusions about how you think terrorist event reporting can be managed effectively so that the public is well-served.
All submissions must include the following technical components:
A cover or title page.
Labeled topical headings (e.g., Introduction, Literature Review, Discussion, Conclusion, Recommendations, etc.).
Length: The report must contain a body of text, between 1,000-1,250 words (about 4-5 pages double-spaced, 12 point font).
A reference page containing a minimum of five (5) course-external resources used and cited in the report. References cited at the end of the report must be cited in text to illustrate how they were used.
