Welcome to Weeks 7 and 8!
This week we focus on LAN technologies. We will explore the concept of presence, which is a service that can be built on LAN infrastructures. The proliferation of mobile devices and Web applications underscores the fact that electronic information systems affect every aspect of our lives, and that it is increasingly bothersome to be tethered to these systems by wires. Wireless communication offers us mobility and is likely to be viewed as an essential part of an enterprise network infrastructure.

Explain basic Wi-Fi 802.11 terminology and the role of access points.
Explain basic radio signal propagation concepts, including frequencies, antennas, and wireless propagation problems.
Compare and contrast 802.11n and 802.11ac transmission standards.
Discuss 802.11 WLAN management.
Discuss strategies for managing infrastructure vendors.
Evaluate appropriate infrastructure contracts.
