Welcome! Remember, you can’t start earning points in Yellowdig until the course begins on Monday, so look around, but save your posting until 4/8! (be sure to “Create” a post, don’t reply to this one 😀 )
Foundations of Behaviorism
For this discussion, post something to the discussion board related to the foundations of behaviorism or your Week 1 readings. Engage in a conversation with your course community related to at least ONE of the following:
- Reflect on the contributions of key figures in behaviorism like Pavlov, Watson, and Skinner. How did their work shape behaviorism? Discuss the main principles and experiments associated with each of these pioneers and the impact of their research on our understanding of behavior.
- Discuss your experience with behaviorism at this point. During this week, did you learn anything new or encounter material that challenged your previous conceptions about behaviorism?
- Why did behaviorism become popular in psychology? Consider the factors and reasons that led to the widespread popularity of behaviorism in the field of psychology. What historical, scientific, or practical elements contributed to its ascendancy as a dominant perspective in psychology? Share your insights and perspectives on this phenomenon.
As always, if you are relying on someone else’s ideas when presenting yours, you should reference your source. This includes sharing references to your fellow students’ ideas!
