Week 8 Writing Assignment: Analytical Paper Final Draft
Using the critical reading skills practiced in class, you will be writing an analytical essay. In order to analyze a text effectively, you will need to engage in close reading, or reading “between the lines.” This means that you will be choosing representative passages and carefully deconstructing them, highlighting meanings that may not be immediately obvious to fellow readers in order to support your overall interpretation of the text (the thesis statement).
The idea is to reach a deep understanding of the text by examining the writer’s narrative elements (i.e., characters, diction, style, theme, and tone), everything that went into writing the piece. Whatever work you choose, you should first read it carefully (usually more than once) and arrive at your own understanding of what you read (as we have done weekly within our discussion board assignments.) The next step is to see what others have said about it (that’s the research part) and compare your findings with theirs.
Your paper must include the following:
An introduction that provides relevant background information and ends with your thesis statement
A minimum of four body paragraphs, each of which addresses a particular subtopic that relates to your thesis statement
A minimum of three references from reliable, academic sources, all of which are cited at least once in the paper. You should use at least one peer-reviewed source from the library databases.
A conclusion that reaffirms your thesis statement and addresses wider implications
Formatting, citations, and references must all adhere to APA style
Page length – approximately 3-5 pages, not including title and reference pages

Im going to provide you with the rough draft just so you can get an idea of the thesis etc but you can’t rely on it because my professor did not give me great feed back on t at all.

Hi. Thanks for your submission. The rough draft is in! That’s the bulk of the work, but you still have to make sure to revise carefully based on the feedback. The final draft will be worth 200 points, significantly more than any other assignment in the course. Remember that you have access to tutoring resources if you need them. *Keep in mind that the rubric for the rough draft is different from the rubric for the final draft. This one only includes two categories, but the final draft rubric evaluating more aspects of the paper. ;o} The overall content and inclusion of quotes/sentences that don’t make sense for this paper continue to indicate academic integrity violations, but I’ll grade this as your own work. Not all of the quotes that you include here are actually from the play at all. You’re missing all of the research, so the paper is incomplete. You were required to include a minimum of 3 sources for this paper other than the literature itself. Make sure that you use at least 3 total for the final draft. Indent the first line of every paragraph. Remember that whenever you quote something word-for-word from a source, the in-text citation needs to include the page number (p.) in addition to the author and year.
